Americare will reimburse you for eligible tuition for approved courses.Home Office: Regional Nurse Consultant ALF:Position Summary:Assist community leadership and staff in providing quality care to residents and fair treatment to employees, vendors and other business and healthcare partners/providers. Actively promote and participate in the Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (QAPI) program. Assist community leadership and staff in maintaining compliance with legal procedures, nursing laws, state and federal regulations and Americare Systems, Inc., policies and procedures. Foster the Quality Initiatives of the American Healthcare Association. Utilize the externally purchased technology systems, available to promote community excellence. Embrace the 4 Core Values of Americare.Essential Functions:The Nurse Consultant will act as a nurse mentor and advisor to our Assisted Living community leadership and assist in Director of Nursing orientation, by being available for consultation, keeping current with medical and nursing care processes, keeping abreast of changes in health care delivery systems and methods and providing information to community leadership as indicated or requested.
    • Knowledgeable of and assist in implementing state and federal regulations and Americare Systems, Inc., policies and procedures for Assisted Living.
    • Assist in developing a plan of correction following a state or federal survey in cooperation with community leadership the Regional Director of Operations (RDO).
    • Assist, as needed or requested, in development of adequate staffing patterns and ratios in cooperation with community leadership and the RDO.
    • Notify timely Americare Systems, Inc., the RDO of events which pose potential compliance and/or litigation risk. At the direction of the RDO and/or Divisional Vice President (DVP), assist community leadership in managing, investigating, or providing follow-up education related to such events.
    • Perform onsite review of resident care and services on a routine basis and as requested, to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and Americare Systems, Inc., policies and procedures. Provide a verbal and/or written report (as defined by specific RDO) of findings and recommendations for follow-up to the Administrator, Director of Nursing, and RDO.
    • Maintain effective communication with community leadership by reporting all observations while in the community to the Administrator and Director of Nursing. Conducting entrance and exit conferences with the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing or designees during each onsite visit.
    • Communicate routinely and effectively with the RDO regarding community clinical performance, site visit schedules, survey activity, events or other clinically relevant information.
    • Assist in nurse recruitment and retention efforts as needed or requested. Participate in the interview and selection process for community nursing leadership positions as needed or requested.
    • Observe and emphasize safety awareness and accident prevention to community staff.
    • Review community quality measures and quality data (CMS 5 Star, CASPER, QM/QI), assist community leadership in development of performance improvement programs (PIPs), action plans and review outcomes in relation to established benchmarks.
    • Assist in developing and conducting ongoing training programs for nursing and other staff in response to QAPI programs to promote quality care and survey readiness at all times.
    • Attend and participate in community QAPI Meetings and Risk (SNAR) Meetings as requested. Review quality measures and quality data, QAPI and SNAR, assist in development of organizational performance improvement programs, action plans, PIPs, and review outcomes in relation to established benchmarks. Notify the RDO of any concerns including failure to follow-up on recommendations.
    • At the direction of Senior Management/RDO, provide a review of Americare Systems, Inc., policies and procedures and nursing procedures. Active in the creation, revision and updating of policies and procedures in accordance with changes in standards of practice, state, and federal regulations.
    • Participate in healthcare associations and professional organizations.
    • Collaborate and coordinate with Americare Systems, Inc., business partners including contracted consultants, vendors and other healthcare providers and partners.
    • Submit required reports to RDO/Headquarters (HQ) in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Pursuit goals as established by the RDO and RNC on an annual basis. Work in partnership with the RDO and Regional Team to reach goals, meet targets, and deadlines for the mutual benefit and improvement of the Region.
    • Proficient and able to promote and teach the INTERACT standards. Audits communities consistent utilization of the INTERACT process.
    • Other duties as assigned.Work Environment:Travel is required to various facilities, conferences, and meetings and may include overnight stays. Work week is Monday through Friday, 8-5, and required additional hours based on the amount of time necessary to perform the job responsibilities including on-call and emergencies.Physical Demands:This position must have the ability to handle computer tasks of some complexity in a variety or an independent and responsible manner. The must also have the ability to work accurately and efficiently with attention to detail while following protocol. This role needs to have a full understanding and ability to utilize a computer and learn required software as designated by company protocol. Employee must also have an understanding and ability to follow all regulations and policies by the State and Board of Directors. Employee must have communication skills to be able to interact with Home Health and Americare staff.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full time position. Work week is Monday through Friday, 8-5, and required additional hours based on the amount of time necessary to perform the job responsibilities including on-call and emergencies.Travel:This position requires daily travel to communities within the region with overnight schedule for communities at distance, to ensure time on site to support community needs. Additional they will travel via Air to organization meetings as well. You will need to have reliable transportation.

          • Graduate of a state-approved school of nursing as a registered nurse
          • Five years experience in long-term care (preferred), two years experience in a nurse management position in long term care (preferred)
