Job DescriptionPOSITION OVERVIEW:A cutter's role is to cut quality glass essential to the production of glass units for the manufacturing of glass windows and doors while strategically adjusting jobs to obtain the highest yield from the glass they cut for each job and repair.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Identify job by sales order and line numbers.2. Read and comprehend stickers on glass and paper work for glass.3. Responsible for quality of finished products.4. High requirement of production number.5. Perform a 2-3 step process and retain these steps.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Wear required PPE equipment at all times.• Cut quality glass for the tempering line to temper.• Cut quality glass for production on the Erdman line directly.• Cut quality glass for in-house stock.• Cut quality glass for test purposes.• Ensure that each cart before loading is blown free of debris.• Read the table screen and perform quality snaps and safely discard scrap glass.• Sand leading edge of glass that is placed in large "Harp" carts.• Ensure all jobs are complete before leaving the cutting area for Erdman or Tempering staging.• Place glass in operate carts for safe handling and distribution to tempering and IG lines.• Move glass for production from the cut table to proper carts and slots on carts.• Understand the different types of glass and special means of quality cut and snaps.• Pull or push carts of glass from the cutting table to Erdman and Temper staging area.• Scan the glass panes for defects and minor repairs at cutting table before moving to staging area.• Change cutting wheels each shift.• Providing proper maintenance to cutting equipment.• Proper cleaning and housekeeping daily of cutting area.• Clean the "Pit" as scheduled• Cut repairs with maximum yield in mind and utilizing wall cuts from scrap glass with a turn around time of 60 minutes or less.• Communicate with both the Erdman Operator, Temper Cooker, and Front Line Expediter in addressing repairs.• Load and cut batches with maximum yield in mind.• Report daily glass cutter production.• Perform these responsibilities up to but not limited to a 8-hour shift.• Work in a manner that ensures your safety and that of your fellow employees.• Conduct proper cleaning and housekeeping of assigned area.• Understand the different types of glass.COMPETENCIES:• Be able read job orders and computer directions.• Be able to write.• Basic mathematics.• Be able to read a measuring tape.• Be able to lift, flip, and rotate up to 75 pounds from three-foot elevated position to a cart.• Be able to push and/or pull cart loaded with up 50 panes of glass.• Have constant means of transportation to arrive consistently on-time ready to perform job.• Have reliable means of receiving communications.• Understand this job description addressing your primary assigned position, but you may be assigned periodically to perform other assignments at the direction of a supervisor at any time with or without prior notice.PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.REQUIRED PPE (PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT)• Steel or composite toed footwear.• Safety glasses or approved prescription safety glasses.• Cut proof 5 or greater gloves.• Safety shirt• Leather Apron
