General Description:

  • Leads and manages teams of statisticians that provide expert statistical, clinical trial and drug development advice and support to the clinical development programs for clinical projects including team members in both China and US.

  • Allocates the appropriate level of statistical support for projects and ensures that the objectives, standards, and other commitments are met.

  • Partners with heads of Clinical Science, Data Management, Clinical Operations and other leaders to ensure the delivery on project commitments.

  • Provides strategic input for the drug development plan and execution

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, develop, coach and manage statisticians in the organization.

  • Develop and implement the Biostatistics vision.

  • Liaise with other company function to influence, shape and drive unified strategies and other relevant enterprise efforts.

  • Provide executive review for clinical development plan, Protocol, SAP, CSR and other submission documents.

  • Oversee the research activities for innovative statistical methods and applications in clinical trial development.

  • Influence the broader clinical organization with respect to clinical development decisions and data interpretation.

  • If needed, serve as statistical representative and lead in the cross-functional teams for the strategic planning and execution for product development.

  • If needed, serve as statistical representative for regulatory interactions

  • Ensure the existence of and adherence to relevant SOPs.

  • Assessment of individual performance on an ongoing basis and at regular review sessions.

  • Communicate a clear vision, inspire and motivate the biostatistics department.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in statistics/biostatistics with a minimum of 15 years relevant work experience across multiple therapeutics areas.

  • Five (5) years managing a large, global team or group.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrate strong interest in statistical research activities and in application of novel methods to clinical trial development.

  • Experience with filings for major regulatory bodies and good understanding of worldwide regulatory requirements

  • Thinks broadly, strategically, and timely when preventing, solving or managing problems, thinks quickly under pressure.

  • Prepared to make decisions and take calculated risks, synthesizes detailed information, makes sound decisions based on risk assessment and balancing of priorities

  • Experience in oncology drug development is preferred.
