Job Description:
The Associate Counsel is responsible for providing general
corporate and legal analysis and advice relating to regulatory and
health care compliance matters, HIPAA/privacy law, general business
transactional legal matters, and other health care administrative
transactions. The Associate Counsel will act as a resource to
others in the Legal & Compliance Department and work closely with
Compass Health's General Counsel and EVP Corporate Compliance &
Quality, leadership and staff on general compliance and contractual
matters. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - JOB SPECIFIC: Advises on corporate
transactions, regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, and
internal policies, procedures, and guidelines Delivers legal advice
on healthcare-related matters with a focus on regulatory
compliance, corporate governance, and commercial agreements Serves
as a subject matter expert by responding to regulatory compliance
inquiries and providing guidance Interprets and advises on federal
and state laws and regulations related to corporate and regulatory
compliance Partners with internal departments to ensure contractual
terms align with legal requirements, regulatory standards, and
company policies Assists in the implementation and ongoing
management of the company's compliance program Manages multiple
projects and priorities effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic
work environment Communicates effectively with senior management by
translating complex technical and legal issues into clear,
actionable guidance Undertakes other legal assignments and
responsibilities as needed Juris Doctor degree from an accredited
law school required QUALIFICATION(S): WORK
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of four (4)
years' experience as a practicing attorney with at least two (2)
years of healthcare experience and specialized experience working
at a law firm, corporate legal department or federal or state
healthcare agency required Knowledge of state Medicaid programs,
CMS Medicare guidelines, fraud, waste and abuse laws, and HIPAA
preferred Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts
preferred Experience with a healthcare company or companies within
another regulated industry preferred QUALIFICATION(S):
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Licensed to practice law in Missouri
