SUMMARYSales Associates are responsible for providing customers
with an exceptional buying experience and ensure our service, food
and car wash standards are met, where applicable. This position is
expected to operate each shift efficiently, within company policies
and provides quick and efficient customer service as well as the
highest quality food in a friendly atmosphere. The term Sales
Associate applies to positions of first, second, third shift
employees, full- or part-time and this position reports to the
store manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY:
Business Results Orientation
- Account correctly for all cash income including but not limited
to: register fund, credit/debit cards, lottery/lotto, car wash
sales, vacuum income, etc. and record any cash variance in
accordance with our cash handling policies
- Maintain a clean and visually appealing convenience store,
including lot and bathrooms
- Ensure all vendors are checked in according to company policy
and complete all transactions through register according to company
policy
- Ensure store merchandise is properly stocked on shelves and in
coolers
- Increasing food sales and monitor food waste through tracking
food logs and following trends
- Adhere to all city, county and state health department
regulations
- Work diligently to correct safety deficiencies in a timely
manner
- Inform Supervisor or Manager of unsafe conditions and
behaviors, and recommend how to correct or eliminate them
- Must follow food service protocol, including but not limited to
temping and logging food per guidelines, food rotation protocols,
following build to's and proper disposal of expired food
- Observe shift operating hours at all times and follow the work
schedule as posted, unless a change is arranged with
Supervisor
- Post hours worked on the computer accurately and sign all
necessary documentation
- Maintain regular attendance and follow designated safety
practices
- Follow all company policies and procedures as defined in the
Policy/Training Manual or other guidelines
- Perform other duties not listed as required
Communication
- Assist supervisor in meeting daily, weekly and monthly
reporting and information requirements.
- Ensure all communications with customers, suppliers, vendors,
co-workers, etc. is professional and appropriate
- Advise Supervisor of any personnel situations or policy
violations having an adverse effect on store operating
performance.
- Ensure supervisor is made aware of all sales, cash or operating
discrepancies, food hazards, equipment issues, food log
discrepancies, sales and /or waste that is out of range in a timely
manner.
- Communicate customer feedback both positive and negative
Customer Service Orientation
- Meet all customer needs as efficiently and effectively as
possible by providing superior customer service
- Exhibit a professional, customer friendly and helpful attitude
while on the job
- Use suggestive selling techniques such as sampling and educate
the customer that our food is prepared fresh and local daily
- Offer an exceptional experience to our customers, by serving a
unique, fresh food offering following food SOPs
- Educate team on products and procedures for shifts
- Complete check list including logs, prep work for the next
shift
- Report to work in accordance with clean company uniform and
appearance standards including appropriate headwear as defined in
policy
- Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, ownership and pride to
address customer needs
- Always looks to promote food sales throughout all operations of
the store
- Offer each customer a proper close by thanking the customer or
asking the customer to return
- Execute a complete transaction which includes a suggestive sell
as well as counting back the customer's change
Developing Talent
- Offer assistance, support, and feedback to other team
members
- Set an example that is aligned with company's mission statement
for other employees to follow
- Strive to improve personal and team performance in suggestive
sales techniques with food sales
- Complete training as required to meet regulatory compliance and
company guidelines
Safety
- Attend and participate in safety meetings
- Work diligently to correct safety deficiencies in a timely
manner
- Complete safety training required of position; Follow all
safety policies and procedures
- Inform Supervisor or Manager of unsafe conditions and
behaviors, and recommend how to correct or eliminate them
- Report all work-related injuries immediately
- Cooperate with the medical provider, and follow the treatment
plan and Return-To-Work Program
- Work to avoid preventable accidents
- Complete safety checklist as assigned
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate
Technical Expertise
- Run the cash register and complete all necessary paperwork
efficiently and accurately
- Adhere to all city, county and state age restricted product
regulations and laws as well as all health department
regulations
- Complete shift cleaning checklist on every shift, including
inside and outside responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance checks to ensure proper performance
of all equipment
- Follow all company cash handling, safety and security policies
and procedures
- Develop and maintain knowledge of how to change gas prices
after receiving information from Manager or Territory Manager
- Check equipment for proper performance
- Advise Supervisor immediately of any maintenance problems
- Maintain understanding of store food equipment and how to
service and maintain
- Adhere to all Wallis Companies safety policies and report all
safety incidents to supervisor immediately
