About the role: The Release Manager plays an important role in our software development and quality process. You will oversee the rollout of new software features and improvements to thousands of our customers that use Samsara for many businesses critical operations. This position is on the product team. You'll work with key stakeholders across product, engineering, product marketing and customer success to define, build and scale release processes and capabilities. You'll have the opportunity to make a huge impact by developing our release management discipline that builds customer and internal trust and confidence. In this role, you will:--

  • Partner with product teams to design & continuously improve our release cadence across our native (Google Play / Apple App Store) & codepush mobile app, and cloud dashboard releases
  • Own release execution with frequent releases to early adopters, and quarterly releases for larger customers
  • Partner with QA to ensure adequate manual & automated testing programs. Ensure releases meet launch criteria
  • Assemble release notes and critical release metrics from various teams
  • Curate, maintain, and improve launch process documentation. Run training and enablement across the organization.--
  • Communicate release status, issues, metrics and feedback throughout releases--
  • Work with product marketing and customer success teams to put together customer facing documentation and training materials for releases
  • Partner with product and engineering to design and implement deprecation policies for software that is no longer supported
  • Be a champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Obsess Over the Customer, Build for the Long Term, Growth Mindset) as we scale globally and across new offices Minimum requirements for this role:
    • 5+ years of experience in technical project/program management, release management, or engineering management function
    • Experience with software development release methodologies with experience creating new programs and processes--
    • Demonstrated track record of success delivering results in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
    • Strong analytical skills; ability to structure analysis and derive data-driven insights
    • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to break-down ambiguous problems and turn them into actionable solutions and insights
    • Ability to build strong relationships with PMs, senior leaders (e.g., Product Directors/VPs) and cross-functional partners
    • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to execute on large, cross-functional projects
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills--
    • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline An ideal candidate also has:
