Hiring DepartmentFoundation SeedsJob DescriptionThis position will work closely with the Director of Program/Project Operations to plan and conduct agricultural research on multiple varieties of crops. This position will manage the farming operation of Foundation Seeds and provide supervision and management of the Research Maintenance Tech, Sr. Research Technician and seasonal help. Management of Foundation Seeds will include assisting researchers in the planting, scouting, inspecting and harvesting of crop varieties to improve and/or maintain purity to ensure a marketable product that maximizes profit.This position will also maintain the Foundation Seeds facilities, equipment and trucks to ensure safety and a productive work environment. This position will provide the coordination and preparation for all presentations and visits to Foundation Seeds.Job duties:

• Plans, supervises and coordinates Foundation Seeds daily activities related to planting, harvesting and processing crop varieties for agricultural research. Supervises and oversees the Foundation Seeds warehouse and the inspection, maintenance and repair of all equipment used in agricultural research.
• Manages all personnel matters (e.g. attendance, instruction, performance, scheduling, payroll, recruitment).
• Supervise and maintain inventory of all seed, chemicals, and supplies. Order supplies and equipment as required.
• Assist agricultural researchers by supervising the processing of crops at Foundation Seeds into marketable raw harvested seed products for maximum profit.
• Manage the harvest and store of different seed varieties. Work with Director of Program/Project Operations to make recommendations for improvement/efficiency.
• Assist the Director of Program/Project Operations in the planning and development of pursuing licensing opportunities to generate higher levels of cash flow.
• Contact and create relationships with growers to lease land to produce seeds, as necessary. Analyze soil content to determine fertilizer and chemicals needed and/or adjustments to provide best seed growing environment.
• Ensure maintenance and repair activities related to farm equipment used in agricultural research; maintain maintenance and repair records and documentation.
• Support research and teaching by assisting with coordination of the annual field day and special tours throughout the year. Attend seed meetings, grower meetings, and seed workshops. Develop and maintain working relationships with both internal and external constituents.Supervisory experience required.Class A Commercial Driver's license with air brakes required before employment.Seed Treatment (Class 4) and Ag Plant (Class 1A) pesticide license required within the first six months of employment.Tanker and Haz Mat certification can be acquired later.SalarySalary Range: $47,476 - $73,374Grade: GGS-9EUniversity Title: Farm ManagerInternal applicants can determine their university title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.ShiftMonday - Friday8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree with major in Agriculture or related field.Experience with crop production and basic equipment maintenance and repairs.Fumigation license.Benefit EligibilityThis position is eligible for University benefits.
