Job Description:
Perform duties required to plan and execute quality assurance
plans to insure continuous production of products consistent with
established quality standards. Work is performed under the
direction of the Quality Manager. Responsible for supervising,
training, auditing, communicating and assigning duties to all
inspectors and lead inspectors. Assist Quality Manager in
conducting performance evaluations and establishing goals and
targets based on department and company goals and objectives.
Responsible for maintaining good associate relations, enforcement
of company policy, rules and regulations. Develop visual aides and
review control plans for accuracy and applicability. Incorporate
operator inspection into control plans as required. Write work
instructions and maintain as required. Review reject parts and
determine cost effective dispositions. Review all rework work
orders to assure that clear and concise work instructions are
available. Review and analyze all non standard operations for
precise work instructions, cost effectiveness and need. Responsible
to see that all sorting/rework is performed according to prescribed
quality requirements and procedures. Utilize knowledge of SPC to
assist in evaluating and analyzing all applicable SPC charts.
Responsible to monitor all SPC charts to assure proper usage and
analysis of SPC data. Assure all gauges and test equipment is
properly and regularly calibrated. Work closely with die-casting,
secondary, process and maintenance to assure all processes and
procedures are current, accurate and being followed. Provide and
promote effective communication between shifts and departments.
Provide problem solving assistance to production and process to
resolve quality problems. Monitor scrap reports and scrap audits to
identify problem areas. Maintain good communication with the
Quality Manager regarding production quality issues and actions
taken to resolve. Responsible for investigating customer complaints
and help to develop corrective action plans detailing actions taken
to correct problems. Work on customer complaints and problems and
communicate with responsible management about customer quality
issues. Instruct inspectors and operators on functional and
cosmetic areas of the castings. Maintain and update inspection
criteria on a routine basis. Assist the Quality Manager in
establishing routine inspection equipment requirements, improving
process control, inspection personnel requirements and inspection
methods and procedures. Verbally communicate the company's quality
and environmental policies. Follow and adhere to the company's
quality and environmental systems, policies, procedures and work
instructions. Keep work area clean, follow and supervise all safety
rules and regulations. Report any concerns to the proper personnel.
Perform other similar or related duties as requested or
assigned.
