Job Description:

Midwest Computech, a trusted community information technology business is looking for an energetic detail-oriented team player who is enthusiastic about working for Midwest Computech. The Project Technician is responsible for knowledge of network design and installation of wiring/cabling and fiber optics. Must have the ability to work independently and with a team while being able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and supervisors. This position will travel and reports directly to the COO (Chief Operations Officer). The Project Technician may have other duties assigned that are not listed below.


  • Installing structured cabling according to codes and industry standards.
  • Installing fiber optic connectivity according to codes and industry standards.
  • Perform light technical installations of equipment.
  • Operate and maintain a company vehicle and tools.
  • Work away from home office and overnight stays as needed.
  • Troubleshooting cabling connectivity issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an inventory of products and supplies.
  • Ability to complete industry standard (Leviton, Hubbel, Bicsi, etc.) courses and certifications as needed.
  • Holding and maintaining a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Knowledge base of basic carpentry and construction.
  • Exceptional communication skills and documenting with the ability to learn and use company software on multiple devices (laptop, PC, smart phone, etc).
  • Great organizational skillsPhysical Demands
    • Ability to climb ladders, carry and lift heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.)
    • Ability to bend, squat, and lift frequently
    • Ability to operate power toolsPreferred Experience and Skills
      • An associate's degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and/or two years of experience in the construction/installations industry.
      • Successfully completed the OSHA 10 certification
      • General ability to resolve issues and offer fast resolutions and advice to different parties involvedBenefits
