Job Description UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Art Education The University of Missouri (MU) College of Education is dynamically growing and changing. The Department of Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum, at the University of Missouri is pleased to announce a position at the rank of assistant professor in art education. We seek a scholar who can help us extend and expand our commitment to the education of learners in varied school settings and to the preparation of art educators and scholars. This position offers opportunities to contribute to the development of high-quality scholarship and programs in art education. Job duties consisting of, but are not limited to: Engaging in research, writing, and other scholarly activities in art education;Pursuing relevant funding opportunities, individually and/or with others;Contributing to the art education teacher certification program (K-12); Developing and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in art education (online and face-to-face); Supervising master's and doctoral students' programs and research; Supervising graduate teaching assistants; Serving as emphasis area leader for art education; Participating in faculty governance with the Department, College, and University; andProviding service, outreach, and leadership to the University, educational Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Earned doctorate in art education or a related field;At least three years art teaching experience in K-12 and higher education settings or equivalent experience;Evidence of a high level of scholarly and creative practice as an artist, researcher, and teacher Candidates will be evaluated on the following factors: Experience in conducting research and the pursuit of external funding;Experience in teaching at the higher education level in art education and across disciplines;Experience working collegially with individuals from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity in art and design;Command of contemporary theoretical and pedagogical practices in art and design teaching and learning;Commitment to teaching and advising graduate students in multiple modalities courses (design and deliver online and face-to-face courses including integration of new media technologies);Familiarity with state standards governing teacher education program approval and teacher licensure, including experience with practicum and clinical teaching supervision;Confident leadership and communication skills with proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Application Deadline Beginning Review Date: Formal review of applications will begin October 7, 2018 and continue until the position is filled.
