School Mental Health Professional Internship Placement
(2026-2027 School Year Internship) Two Positions Available Required
2-3 school days per week for one full school year Concentration
Internship Students Only - (Second Year Masters Internship) $7,000
stipend for the school year (one year placement) August 2026 - June
2027 School District: Will be placed with social workers within the
district Student population of 2,600 students 3 Elementary Schools
1 Middle School 1 Junior High School 1 High School 1 Alternative
School 1 Early Childhood Center School Mental Health Professional
Intern responsibilities, with the help of their supervisor, may
include : Individual and group counseling in depression, anxiety,
divorce, social skills, substance abuse, behavior disorders,
suicidal ideation, grief and loss, eating disorders, and more.
Administering suicidal and homicidal assessments Participating in
the Special Education Process of developing goals and IEP team
decision-making regarding social-emotional goals and treatment.
Conduct needs assessments and connect to community resources
Collaborate with administrators, teachers, school nurses, social
workers, and other school personnel to provide a team approach for
each student's needs. Providing crisis management services and
participate in the district’s crisis response team Advocating for
students’ and families’ best interests Participating in home visits
for the purpose of gathering information on the student’s
background and for developing cooperative home-school relationships
Developing and presenting staff in-service training program
Identify and provide monthly support to Families in Transition
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher Current Masters
Student in Social Work or Counseling concentration, 2nd year with
approved University/Disitrict relation Knowledge of state
standards, federal and state regulations and law Knowledge of
subject matter content and assessment strategies Knowledge of best
practices in curriculum and instruction Ability to relate to
students, staff, and parents in a positive manner Ability to
communicate clearly in verbal and written form Ability to follow
written and oral communication Ability to problem solve Application
