Full Time/Part Time Full-Time Job Description The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in Rolla, Missouri is seeking outstanding applicants for tenure-track Aerospace Engineering faculty positions open to all ranks. While all core disciplines of aerospace engineering are of interest, preference will be given to applicants who can apply their expertise to one or more of the department--------s research thrust areas in aerospace engineering including hypersonics and high-speed aerospace vehicles, space systems (focusing on small satellites), and autonomous air vehicles and intelligent systems. The successful applicant will demonstrate alignment with S&T--------s multi-disciplinary, multi-investigator research centers and programs, particularly the Center for Aerospace Manufacturing Technology, the Intelligent Systems Center, the Center for Research in Energy and the Environment, and the four centers of the newly formed Kummer Institute. The Kummer Institute () was recently established through a $300 million gift that promises to transform Missouri S&T by cultivating leadership and technological innovation, nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset, fostering expansion of academic-industry partnerships to address the emerging needs of industry, and creating economic growth for the region, state and nation. The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is the largest department on campus, with both programs each being the largest in Missouri. It has a long-established record of excellence in research, with five junior faculty having received CAREER and DoD young investigator awards in the last ten years. Several Ph.D. students have received prestigious fellowships from NASA, NSF, and DoD. The department is situated in a state-of-the-art 145,000 square foot facility and has 24 internationally recognized tenured/tenure-track faculty, 6 teaching faculty, 9 staff members, over 200 graduate students (including 90 Ph.D. students), over 1,000 undergraduate students, and over 12,000 living alumni. Additionally, senior candidates should have demonstrated excellence in externally funded research, a strong record of publications and citations, and high-quality teaching. Qualified candidates will possess a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
